Under Data Protection legislation the church Charity Trustees of Immanuel Baptist Church are the Data Controller and can be contacted by emailing the church secretary at ImmanuelSouthsea@gmail.com.
We collect personal details such as names, contact information and dates of birth to enable the church to keep in touch with its members and congregation, and to provide pastoral support when it is needed. Data Protection legislation allows us to hold onto and use this information as we regard it as being in the church’s legitimate interest.
The names and contact details of members and regular attendees are kept in our church database, which is held on the Church Secretary’s computer and is password protected. Church documents are only accessed, when appropriate, by Immanuel Trustees, Church Leaders and the Church Secretary. Should you leave the church and no longer wish to be a member of the church or congregation at Immanuel, your contact details will be removed from the database – unless you ask to remain as one of our “church friends”.
To enable us to provide adequate pastoral support for our church and congregation members and their families, the Pastoral Leader may record information regarded as sensitive. This information will be stored (in password protected documents) on that Leader’s own computer. This information will NOT be disclosed to anyone else without consent from the person concerned.
Persons whose details are held by Immanuel have the right to ask to see any information held by the Trustees (including pastoral support information) by submitting a ‘Subject Access Request’ to the Church Secretary. They also have the right to ask for any information which they believe is recorded incorrectly to be rectified.
Anyone who is concerned about the way their information is being handled should speak to our Data Protection Trustee in the first instance, and then to the Information Commissioner’s Office if their concerns are not satisfied.
